Elections: It has been confirmed that elections for Shropshire Council and all the Parishes within the County area will be held on Thursday May 1st.when all current Members have to leave their Council and stand for election, if they wish to continue to serve.

Elections: It has been confirmed that elections for Shropshire Council and all the Parishes within the County area will be held on Thursday May 1st.when all current Members have to leave their Council and stand for election, if they wish to continue to serve. There is already one vacancy on Shawbury Parish and three more Members have indicated that they will not be standing for election again. Once elected Members stay in post until the next election which will be in four years’ time so this is a real opportunity for anyone wishing to get involved in ensuring that the Parish is well maintained and cared for. Keep an eye open for the details on how to apply, as these will be widely advertised or pass your name to the Parish Clerk who will happily give you advice and keep you up-dated.
Community Service Awards:
This award was started by the Council in 2011 and since then over 50 people have been recognised, including a few children. This year the following people have been nominated and will receive their award at the Annual Parish Meeting being held on Tuesday May 20th. – Mrs. Karen Lloyd, Mrs. Tracie Howells, Mrs. Gemma Richards, Mr. John Tait and Mr. James Plaskett.

Grants: Each year the Council has a small allocated budget which allows it to offer grants to deserving charities or organisations which apply for assistance. This year £500 has been given to the local Scouts and Guides Committee and £250 each to the Severn Hospice and Hope House Children’s Hospice.
New Clerk: The Council is pleased to announce that Mr. Daniel Evans has been appointed as the Council Clerk to take over from Jack Wilson who is retiring at the end of May having served the Council for twenty seven years. Daniel will be working closely with Jack over the next few weeks before he takes full responsibility from June 1st.
