The Parish Burial Ground

Shawbury Parish Council manages the parish burial ground, which is located next to the Parish Church. The burial ground is available for burials and interments of cremated remains in accordance with the Parish Council’s eligibility criteria.

Shawbury Parish Council manages the parish burial ground, which is situated next to the Parish Church.

The burial ground provides a place of rest for eligible parish residents and their families. Burials and interments of cremated remains are subject to the Parish Council’s eligibility criteria and applicable fees.

Who is eligible?

Burials are permitted for:

  • People who are living in the parish at the time of their death.
  • People who lived in the parish immediately before their death but were subsequently in hospital or a nursing home.
  • Second burials in an existing family grave.

If you are unsure whether someone meets the eligibility requirements, please contact the Parish Council Clerk before making arrangements.

Burial and cremated remains fees

The current fees are:

Service Fee
Plot purchase and first interment £500
Second interment £250
Plot purchase and first cremated remains interment £200
Second cremated remains interment £100

Annual fee review

Fees are reviewed annually at the May Parish Council meeting.

The fees shown above are therefore subject to review and may change following the Council’s annual review.

Arranging a burial

If you need to arrange a burial or the interment of cremated remains in the parish burial ground, please contact clerk@shawbury-pc.gov.uk.

The Clerk can provide further information about eligibility, availability, fees and the arrangements required for an interment.
